Intel's current retiree materials describe IRMP options for eligible retirees and SERMA premium reimbursements. Confirm personal eligibility and compare total costs across the years before and after Medicare.

Coverage map

Separate eligibility from affordability

Intel's retiree site says employees meeting an Intel retirement eligibility rule may be eligible for the Intel Retiree Medical Program. It currently describes a non-Medicare high-deductible option and a Medicare retiree PPO option, plus vision coverage, for eligible participants and dependents.

Eligibility does not determine the best coverage path. Compare premiums, deductibles, maximum out-of-pocket exposure, provider networks, prescriptions and dependent needs.

Medicare coordination

Put age-65 enrollment dates on the retirement calendar

Active employer coverage, COBRA, IRMP and Medicare do not always coordinate the same way. Obtain Medicare enrollment guidance before relying on COBRA or retiree coverage to delay Part B.

Intel's 2026 materials describe a Medicare retiree option and SERMA reimbursement for eligible Medicare and Medigap premiums. The current plan guide and Medicare rules control the actual enrollment sequence.

Do not choose a retirement date from the premium alone.Include benefit end dates, Medicare deadlines, HSA eligibility, dependents and the first 24 months of premiums.

Retirement budget

Model coverage with and without SERMA credits

Create two projections: gross health costs and net costs after expected SERMA reimbursements. This shows the underlying expense after SERMA is exhausted.

Keep plan estimates separate from individualized Medicare, tax and legal advice. A specialist can organize the cash-flow comparison while Intel and Medicare sources confirm coverage rules.
